Harbour House Kitchen presents as a calm, unpretentious café and restaurant tucked quietly along Kingsbridge’s bustling Promenade. Those seeking a break from the town centre’s busier spots will find its atmosphere notably relaxed, with a bright interior that opens out onto a calm garden space — ideal for mild days when a little outdoor air accompanies your coffee or meal.

The focus here is on straightforward, well-prepared food using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Mornings and early afternoons tend to attract locals who appreciate a quality espresso or a simple breakfast like organic porridge, eggs on sourdough, or a nutty granola with yogurt. The café also makes a strong case for savoury sourdough toasties — from cheddar with chutney to more adventurous options like smoked tofu with kimchi.

Around mealtime, Harbour House Kitchen feels like a spot where you can linger without rush. The menu highlights wholesome, home-cooked dishes with seasonal touches — think hearty soups paired with seeded bread or a delicate freshly baked rhubarb frangipani if you lean toward something sweet alongside your coffee.

Customers often mention the garden as a welcome pause where conversation flows easily away from Kingsbridge’s main streets. The vibe is quietly attentive, with staff prepared to accommodate without fuss. You won’t find bargain prices here, but the quality and the setting justify making this part of your regular rotation if you live or find yourself near the harbour.

Best times to visit are during sunny late mornings or early afternoons when the garden can be enjoyed to its full effect. It suits those who want a peaceful spot for reading, meeting a friend for a deliberate coffee break, or a casual yet thoughtful meal. Overall, Harbour House Kitchen fits comfortably into Kingsbridge’s local tapestry as a modest, dependable place to enjoy simple foods and the kind of calm that feels earned in a busy market town.

Second visit to Harbour House Kitchen and the sunny garden . This time for coffee and a generous slice of the most superb freshly made Rhubarb Frangipani . Both were perfection . (When last there I enjoyed lunch of fabulous soup and wholesome seeded bread ) This simple wee restaurant is a gem tucked away from the main hustle of Kingsbridge where Helen and her team offer delicious freshly made food . Everything chosen is of the highest quality. Don’t pass it by or you will be missing something special ! Thank you Helen for making the sort of food I love to eat but is rarely found Ruth

Nothing is too much trouble at this Café, right in the heart of Kingsbridge. The garden is absolutely stunning. If you want to find some peace, good food and a hot drink at a very affordable price, this is where to look.

There's no better place that serves fresh fritattas and loose leaf tea in Kingsbridge. There's also a quiet garden, far from the madding crowd. Enjoy

Lovely little cafe serving healthy home cooked food. Nice quiet garden for when thecweather is nice, but also very pleasant inside area for when its not. Not cheap, but very good and can be recommended.

Just off the main Kingsbridge high street is a portal to the tropics. Harbour House Cafe is surprising exploration for all of the senses. A bold and focused menu brings exotic flavours to the tourist South Hams town and all finished with an artisanal touch. The locally sourced decorations give the ambience a feel of adventure, and the cakes and treats that lie in wait are so worth it!

My husband and I called in for coffee the other day whilst on holiday. Very nice coffee but the thing I will always remember is the lady with long blonde hair waving to us when we left with the most infectious smile. Thank you, I shall remember that for a long time.

Minestrone soup was absolutely superb! So tasty, made with fresh veg and perfect seasoning. Sourdough toast on the side was also impressively good. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch xx
